so after a lengthy ER visit last night i found out that i have a 1.5cm epididymal cyst-- most likely from the amount of time i spend in the saddle (my bike is my only transportation).
i'm still kind of in shock with A) the great news that i don't have testicular cancer and B) i can't ride my bike until this thing goes away!

fuck! i'm lucky. shit! this sucks.

    No good man!
May you have a speedy recovery!

I have developed a mysterious pain in my shoulder that is so severe that I can hardly ride my bike. Less severe than your malady, but I still have doctors orders to not ride until it goes away.

Looks like we will be on time out together.

Yeah, that would sum it up. I tried riding a few miles the other night and it was a horrible horrible horrible mistake.
    Sorry, man hahaha.

I'm not even sure that I understand whats wrong with you but since it was bad enough to make you think you had testicular cancer it must be pretty f'ing gnarly. I hope your recovery period isnt too prolonged. Any idea how long your off the bike?

A spermatocele (epididymal cyst) is a sperm-filled cyst in the long, tightly coiled tube that lies above and behind each testicle (epididymis). It feels like a smooth, firm lump in the scrotum on top of the testicle.

Damn. That really, really sucks. What's the ETA for recovery?

Not too often though, or you may go blind. On the other hand, if you do lose one (or two) due to lack of properly scheduled maintenance, you'll be shedding a few grams (a plus for weight weenies), and maybe be able to win a tour de france or two.

i have a fluid filled cyst basically on top of my left nut...on my epididymis, which is basically my jizz delivery tubes.

i mean i have a pretty gorgeous scroat, but i doubt any one other than you would appreciate the pictures. i did see the ultrasound (yes a middle aged woman lubed up my balls) and it looked pretty gnarly.

fuck yea that shit is a real pain the nuts. worst is that they just told me to take a shit ton of ibuprofen (2400mg/day) and stay off the bike till it goes away, i almost wish they could stick a needle in my sac and drain that thing so i could get back on my bike.

whatever though, at least its not cancer.

you beat me to my explanation. they couldn't really give me a time frame. its pretty big (1.5cm) so i assume it will be awhile.

Had the same thing man, was the size of a friggin' softball, no joke, before I had it surgically taken care of. Actually rode from canada to mexico with the damn problem, didn't hurt but was fucking annoying. Was off the bike for about a month after surgery. Hope it's not required in your case.
  7.
i was offered surgery (20 years ago!) but didn't want it. It should settle down after a while...
being able to stand on the pedals and "relieve the pressure" is good - a bit difficult when riding fixed though

Welcome to the club. I'm out for easily a week. Laid my Ciocc down on a patch of uneven pavement now I'm hobbling around on crutches.

    +1... gross

I think iron jaiden summed this one up.

If surgery was required, I think biking would be the last thing on me mind.

they can drain it for you, well at least in my case they could, but it was a very temporary solution.

i guess i never really though about it that way. does this make me super manly???
  9.
well i guess it could but look at lance.it takes balls and big ones to do the tdf and do it well
  10.
    Ball. It takes big ball.

I've had this problem as well, shaving and friction are the possible causes here. The only remedy that I've discovered is using a harsh exfolient like something with coarse sea salt to keep that area exfoliated and the skin ultra clean. We all shave and over time even with a top line cream hairs can become in imbedded and cause micro infections that can turn into a cyst. by then draining it isn't pretty. I use The Origins for Men Skin Diver, it has Bamboo Charcoal and sea salt to keep the skin from forming these under the skin problems. I suffered for many years with this problem my self! after every ride or at the end of the day scrub hard! a coarse cloth will do, this should prevent this form happening. a antibacterical soap also can be effective. It sucks not to be able to ride because you cant sit on your saddle! If the Dr. has to cut you'll be down for weeks because you cant heal properly without getting off.

Same thing here. My lymph nodes were swollen like hell. Went to the doc, told me I'd been doing too much excercise. I had to get a ton of tests for cancer and for STIs and shit like that. All worked out tho, just was too swollen from riding and yoga.

Either way, good to hear that you don't have anything serious, but man that sucks you can't ride.
