Quantcast
velospace is about bikes and the people who ride them buy / sell photos random

  1.
They can both be found for about the same price and both seem to be similar in quality.

Assuming I end up buying one of these, it will only be used on the track if that is of any help.

Are there any other suggestions out there?

    Thanks a ton in advance.

    vigorelli ftw

just my 2cents cuz i know from experience dude the vigorelli is a fast bike!

kleansupreme you have no clue wtf you are talking about. Go home.

He is asking which is better for the track only, not "which fixie is gonna mash harder." The D2 pista is not a concept and is not "played," disregarding the fact that people who actually ride track could give a fuck whether their frames are "played." The D2 is better than the Vigorelli IMHO, here's why.

-D2 is actually made in Italy, not Taiwan
-D2 is constructed of hydroformed aluminum which is stiffer than a concept or a vigorelli.
-D2 has really interesting and uniquely shaped tubeset that is unlike any other track frame in production right now.
    -D2 has nicer welds
-Despite what some people may say, neither of these frames is "faster" persay, "fastness" depends on the rider, but since the D2 is stiffer I would imagine you would be faster on it.
-not that it matters, but Vigorellis are actually played at this point
  3.
Honestly, I wouldn't really call being made in Italy actually a benefit in the bicycle frame manufacturing game at this point in time.

Alright, as it has been stated already, it does not matter how hyped a frame is. I am purely concerned with performance here.

The bianchi usa website has nothing on the super pista and the regular bianchi site doesn't have any crucial information about it. Is there anywhere I can find something to read about it?

Once again, I'm open to other suggestions for frames.

    yamaguchi aero track ftw LOL
  6.
Hahaha those things are so rad. But I don't know about spending 1700 dollars on a frame.

That girl is on point , so it that bike sans front wheel. Im getting a new frame soon, but I think im getting the cinelli mash over the vigorelli. Not because its "mash" , but I like the geo better , sloping top tube . Dolans are amazing frames if you can find one for an affordable price.

Dude fuck all that let's go to his framebuilding school! It's like a couple hours away and for real worth it. We get to leave with what we build.
You think I'm playin but I super wanna go do that. You're comin with!
  8.
    That would be so awesome!
All of his classes for 2009 are full and I believe the 2010 schedule is released in september.

    It's two grand.
I have to devise a plan to get two weeks off of work.
If we went in the very beginning of january, I could pull it off pretty easily because the school district is typically closed until about the middle of the month because of winter break. Therefore, no work for ian.

We will have to talk about details the next time we ride.
  9.
Maybe if you are still in school or college, you could get some sort of college scholarship or grant to pay for it.

Oh the money will be easy to get a hold of haha. It's the time off of work that will be tough.
I work full time and live with my parents(I'm 17, don't worry haha) therefore, money is easy to save up quickly.

Hahaha that's a lovely word, I must say.

Anyway, back to the prior discussion.
I'm still tempted to buy a d2 or vigorelli. Even if I do go to the yamaguchi school, i might get one for no other reason than to feed my addiction to buying bike stuff.
If I have the money laying around, why not? It never hurts to have an extra bike hanging around.

God damn, I love not having expenses.

if you have the money, i would suggest spending it on a road bike, man.
wait till you have bills and knee problems and all you have in your stable is track bikes.

That has information on the complete build. I'm looking for information on the frame.

    Certainly something to consider.

    Hohohohohohoho....

    (just returning the favor, Rebbe)

One bike for each function. Currently functional, I have a a grocery store beater (Marin Bobcat Trail); an '80s friction-shift roadie/café cruiser (Bianchi); a CX/city scrambler (VooDoo). At the moment, I'm building an indexed hill-climber (Fuji Roubaix SL) and a loaded touring (Raleigh International).

If you're a fixed-speed guy AND you hit the track, I can see the inherent logic of two bikes: A street beater, and a velodrome bike. Past that, unless you're buying bikes that allow you to ride places you couldn't go otherwise, you're just collecting stuff for the satisfaction of collecting stuff.

Plus, you have to shove the silly things around every time you want to get out the door. And remember Imelda Marcos.

Posted By: proudxvxyouthGod damn, I love not having expenses.

That's this year. What about next year, and the year after?

It's a long haul ahead, grasshopper; money comes in handy for all kinds of things you've never thought about. There will come a day, sooner than you think, when you don't want to live with the 'rents any more - or they don't want to live with you. What then? Food, rent, clothing, water, phone, electricity/gas, Internet. Pretty soon, you're looking at your paycheck, muttering about that FISA jerk, and wondering who he is and why he keeps taking your money.

At the risk of getting all geezerish: Take a comradely suggestion from a guy who has thirty years more mistakes under his belt, a listen to the Boy Scouts: Be prepared. Or, as Mel Brooks said: "Hope for the best; expect the worst."

    It's not a bike thing. It's a life thing.
  19.
I plan on only being here for another year or year and a half, but my parents good graces will probably extend well past that. So, yes, I know I will want/have to leave fairly soon. College will may bring me out of state, too. I should probably save for that.

Maybe a regular road bike and one track bike would be a better investment than two more track bikes. I'm leaning more and more towards that.
  20.
or get a cross for that little bit of off road use if that intersts you
