I did some searching but couldn't find exactly what I was searching for. So basically when I take out a link its either too short like the pictures. Then when I put in a link it becomes too long and the bolt is almost hanging off the ends. The tension is really really tight when it's at the closest setting & seems very dangerous. I'm not too sure what would be the best thing to do..oh and I'm running 46x17.

You can try a half link

Yea a half link would do the trick. I think that might be your only option without changing your gearing. I could be mistaken. Anyone know anything I don't?

Yeah I was thinking about a half link too. do you know if its as strong as the regular links?? I was hoping someone would know something I don't either..

Personally, I would ride it as far up close as possible, as long as the tire does not rub.

The further back position with an extra link in the chain looks perfectly fine to me. Even if it's at the back of the slot the nut is still making full contact with the frame. I saw that assuming those marks are from this attempt at putting the wheel on. If they were already there, and the nut is going back even further than where it was before, then I take it back.

you are right, those marks are from the other attempt. here's how it actually looks.. not sure if I can call that full contact, probably 4/5 is though. I wanted to run it up close too but that 1mm-ish play doesn't seem too safe. I'm gonna run it far back for now because it's probably gonna slide forward after riding. seems like all that tension would probably break my chain tensioners too.

Looks like it will work just fine to me.

Your wheel is not going to slowly slide forward. Actually the opposite. After a few months riding, your chain will start to stretch and you will find you pulling your wheel back about 1/4". Maybe at that time, take out that extra and ride your wheel closer. It's better the closer up it is.

    ...or replace your stretched chain
