I am building up a set of 1970s Campagnolo Record track hubs.
I want to build a nice classic looking wheelset.
The rims need to be 36 hole, silver, and clincher.
It seems hard to find classic rims with 36 holes on ebay. Any ideas?
It would probably be ideal to find some new old stock silver rims. -

maybe there is a set of rims that are new that look classic with the stickers removed? Any ideas would be appreciated. -

the velocity razor is an eyeleted box style rim that looks rather classic. you can get it in silver with 36 holes and the rim weight is only 450 grams -

I wanted to hop into this with a joke, and be all "Deep V's, obviously", but you should just grab some Open Pros. They're pretty classy, available in silver, and have double eyelets. Otherwise, if you've got cash and aren't in a hurry building these, look for ambrosio rims to go all out with the Italian parts. If that's your thing, of course. The rim profile will end up being similar with either option, and they'll be a solid build. -

Thanks for the suggestions. I did see some ambrosio rims but they were tubulars. Vintage campagnolo rims are also nice if I can find them in 36 hole and clinchers.
I will look into the velocity razors and the open pros.
Any other suggestions, please let me know. -

Aerospoke rims would be pretty cool too. More cool than the deep-v's. -

also if you have advice on how i can convert from a quill stem that would be great too
thanks in advance (just kidding obviously) -

Just stay away from bladed spokes, and you'll be fine. -

Dare I say, the H plus sons? They have a somewhat classic look from what I have seen (having never seen them in person). There is that whole negative thread, but I don't really buy it. Anyhow, they are a bit expensive. Like buckley said, I'd go Mavic Open Pro. My bike shop owner buddy has them on his old French track bike, and they are fresher than potatoes in Idaho. -

Oh yes, by all means do use H+sons. Tell me, what about them seems classic-looking to you? Forget for a second how I feel about those hipster-magnets. For a classic bike, you'll want box rims, which is what they used back then. Open Pro's are great, or Campy Omega if you can find them. Something along those lines. If you want to be real accurate they would also be tubular. -

I wasn't going for the hipster cred, excuse me. I was simply pointing out that they have a subdued classic look to them, never mind that they aren't classic. If you want classic buy classic. Jesus christ, no one can post anything on this site without being labeled a hipster. I guess I should just ride one of those folding bikes so no one will think that I'm a hipster. Any how, it's your wheel set, get the rims that you want. -

I didn't call you a hipster, I called the rims a hipster-magnet. You see how that's not the same thing? I'm not trying to attack anyone (except hipsters), but come on, honestly now, subdued and classic they are not.
