Top one's fine. There's room in the end to change the tire for a 21 and keep the wheel tucked in.
Hey, Greg, isn't this thread a violation of the terms of use? -

Stop drinking that hate-erade. It's all in fun. Changed the title so no one gets up in arms.
The first one is not though. That wheel looks all the way at the end of the track end. -

HA so good. I seem to recall that someone claimed that only 1 model of leader had this problem and that it was fixed for 2009. Here we have 2 models, 1 of which is a 2009.
I nominate every leader on trick track.

What he actually did with the fork was smart. But the rest of the bike....

I'll put this up on FGG forum too, and maybe even sign up for bikeforums, too.

It is sad that it's not only just that one bike pictured that had the rear wheel problem, but yet probably hundreds upon hundreds of frames that they produced during that period. A big FAIL in the design of the bike. -

Yeah honestly until you guys brought it up I just thought of leaders as cheap frames but I never bothered to notice how janky their design actually was.
I'd be soooo pissed if I bought a new frame and the rear wheel actually had the ability to hit the goddamn seat tube!
I'm guessing most of the kids droppin mom and dad's hard earned on LeaBay frames don't know how wrong that really is. -

The misplaced rear triangle is, indeed, really weirdly incompetent. If they've actually written Greg (can't tell if he's joking), then maybe they'll get it sorted.
Jam Guy, sorry about overreacting to the thread. VS was getting on my nerves with the cattiness and this thread was the unfortunate last straw. -

I thought of that, actually, but according to spec, it's not. Leader doesn't even sell a 650c fork. -

After seeing the quality of the bikes who here would actually run a leader fork? I would not. I am not saying they are made shitty but just my speculation alone would hold me back. BMX kids will remember those Brand X forks and the answer carbon forks. I had one of those break on me once and that was terrifying. -

If we each contribute a nickel to a paypal account for every thread that gets opened asking for a good starter bike or opinions on concept vs. bareknuckle, this could become a reality in say... a week?

ummmm... huh? The problem with the ends is that if you were to actually put your rear wheel all the way into them the tire would actually hit the seat tube. Not supposed to be possible.
Chain length is not a factor in that. -

Yea they seem to be alright. Every time I look at one I am just baffled. I really think we need to get one and pass it around. I could actually use it as a thesis type project. We could really put the bike through its paces and see what happens. We could finally make honest men out of them. -

Yeah, it seems to be an issue only with that bottom-of-the-line track frame of theirs.
I think their higher end ones are pretty cool. Such a glaring flaw does make me not want to build one, though. No Idea's looks really nice, though. -
- CommentAuthorwes m.
- CommentTimeJul 13th 2009
I agree in theory. What I still find sketchy about the seemingly decent "higher end" frames they produce is potential flaws that arent so easy to spot. If they get a shipment of frames with funky rear triangles and say "hey, close enough, lets sell them" it makes me wonder about bad welds, flawed tubing, etc that they may have let pass inspection on ALL of their frames. -
- CommentAuthorJoshua A.C. Newman
- CommentTimeJul 13th 2009
Yep.
I agree.
I want one, and I still agree enough to not get one.
