I would just pick up an IRO. You are going to get a good solid bike with descent components and hubs that will last a long time for about 600 shipped. I have heard nothing but good things about those bikes. If you had a bit more to spend the Surly Steamroller complete is a great bike.

Your post makes makes no sense. Did you sign up for the forums just to include your useless input in this and the the leader drama thread? The guy is looking for a complete bike for around 750 or less. Telling him to buy a frame that he doesn't need, and that will consume most of that cost isn't going to help him much.

IRO puts out quality stuff for a fair price, and it's backed by a great company to boot. They get excellent reviews based on their customer service, and also have a no questions asked replacement plan for wrecked frames, which I'm sure you'll appreciate should you ever fall into a situation that requires it. I have an angus frame sitting around that I haven't done anything with yet, but it looks good and is light.

Steamrollers are well liked too. I know a few people who ride them, including a NYC courier who pounds the ever living shit out of his, and have heard nothing bad about them (other than being on the heavier side).

A guy at my work rides a madison . He likes it. I can't testify for it since I've only ridden it around the parking lot a few times (and I'm like a circus bear on it since I'm a giant).

Out of all the options, I'd probably go with the IRO based on the fact that it comes with decent components and is backed by a good replacement policy. IRO is also providing free shipping with their orders right now, so you can save a few bucks if you're ordering your stuff online.

Yea IRO is doing some kind of "2009 bikes at 2007 prices" kind of things.

I am pretty sure Guerciotti and Gios are both now made in Taiwan. Surly hubs are great for the money. A grand is a lot of money in this economy right now. I am actually selling most of my bikes to make ends meet right now.

Surly hubs are great. Been riding the same pair since 2005. Never rebuilt them once.

surly hubs blow..... nothing personal.... they suck---- my opinion--- my opinion also covers anything that is mass produced in asia like a nike tennis shoe-- nothing negetive about the people-- its just the craft of handmade and with pride kinda looses it when a company like bianci ships stock thousands of miles away to have it come back to me like bad dry wall.......sniff...

Damn right, I am pretty. How do you like my new NJS stamped thong? It's really made my coffee shop rides and pub crawls so much more comfortable...

Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me... bro. Now put the fucking lotion in the basket, and shut the hell up.

Actually the craftmanship that comes back from taiwan is some of the best in the world. Those guys can build bikes.

I bought a 2008 Schwinn Madison for a little over $400 and I didn’t like it in the beginning until I upgraded some of the parts (stem, handlebars, brake levers, pedals ect...) Though its not an amazing bike and a little heavy it stands up to whatever I can throw at it, not to mention how cheap it is. I do love my 83 Guerciotii for its heritage and style but my Schwinn is what I can count on. There are many other fully equipped fixed gears on the market but this is just one of those options and I am quite happy with it.
  7.
Aw, man. You revived this thread.
  8.
    Haha this is old
I am still upgrading my bike and it gets better and better but for the price it isnt that bad I enjoy it and it is reliable.
