I bought a set of hed3's , and My plan was to remove the rear cassette , and insteall the surrly fixxer kit for my track bike . I called hed, and they told me if it was a dura ace cassette , it wouldnt work, but ultegra would ? Dont they both go on the same ? The freewheel and all comes off, and the converter screws in, am I missing something ?

The wheels arnt here yet, but the hed3's were from 04 , if that helps at all. Thanks for any info .

If you look at the specs of the surly fixxer there are a couple of years and models that it will not fit. Double check the specs and see if your hub is one of them.

Personally I'd turn those HED3s right back around and get me a sensible wheelset but that's me. In theory the surly fixxer should work but do like wes m. said and make sure your hub is compatible.

    Then sell those HEDs.

Well, I always ride my trispoke , its a really solid wheel. I picked up a set for pretty cheap, and it wont cost me that much to convert the rear hed to fixed . I just wanted to make sure everything is going to work out like I think it will. Also , is there a list online anywhere of which years and models it wont work on? thanks
