When I go out most places, I grab my messenger bag. Otherwise, if its just down the street or a quick run, I'll bring a ulock only. I carry enough tools to take care of whatever goes wrong with my bike while out on the road (especially when I commute). The tools consist of a small 15mm open/box ratcheting wrench, 6mm Allen wrench, Soma 100psi mini pump, 3 Soma tire levers, a small patch kit, a swiss army knife, and a Leatherman XTi multi-tool with interchangeable bit drivers (1-6mm Allen wrench, few sizes of Philip's and flat head). The rest of the crap I carry usually consists of a ulock if I need it or not, pair of gloves, sweatshirt, water, mints, deodorant, buff multi functional head wear, a pen and a mechanical pencil, lighter, wallet, meds, and a spare house key.
Lets see or hear what everyone else usually carries! -

This seems mighty excessive, but you never know. i spend a fair amount of time no where near my house once i leave for the day, so the boy scout in me ALWAYS carries:
Collapsible baton
15mm peanut butter wrench
3-way
headset/pedal wrench
spanner
spoke wrench
Kershaw Leek knife
2x tubes
2x CO2's
Soma steel lever
Rain jacket
Lock
Platy bag
Pen
Paper
Teabags
trashbag
basic first aid kit
sharpie
asst. powerbars
pocket constitution
travel toothbrush
eye drops
some aluminum foil
extra contacts
bic lighter
a bouncy ball
Its really not as heavy as it sounds, and its good training. when i ride sans-bag i feel like a million bucks -

Nothing really ecept always my wallet and cell. I never travel far. If I did take a long trip I would have two tubes, a lock, flashlight, cellphone, carbs, water, aspirin and a rain parka. Maybe a map. -

I'm pretty much with Otto. I wear a backpack with a spare tube, an inflator with two cartridges, a spare hippie jerky snack in case I run out of gas, wallet and phone, multi-tool, hex set, tiny flashlight, camera, little tiny lock, a hat for not having stupid hair when I take my helmet off, a notebook, a toothbrush, travel chopsticks, spare change, a condom, business cards, and assorted bits and bobs.
All not including whatever the payload is, which usually includes my computer. -

but really, i live (and sometimes work) out of my bag, so over the summer i used a 1800cu.in. ortlieb backpack, and i ordered a 4300 cu.in. seagull backpack for the winter.. i only pack the necessities but i also carry a washboard, slingshot, and usually some sort of boxed wine or malt beverage. -

he also wrote fleshlight which sounds kinda weird to me... what does he mean? flesh and light? maybe he meant flashlight which he holds with his teeth in the dark while riding his laundry through the woods? -

yeah we live dangerous like that... that dude on your myspace page you said you wanna meet (12Galaxies)... he is kinda weird I once gave him a chinese pastry cause I felt sorry for him... he first seemed like a normal dude but then asked me for food so I gave him my pastry... he also changes that sign every couple of years or so. I know him since 2002 he is kind of an SF legend. -

I'm pretty sure that detailed description of a fleshlight would be out of bounds on this site. As for the deagle, I prefer to carry a gyroget. I find it fills my outer space self-defense requirements better. -

regarding the "12 galaxies" guy - his name is frank chu, read his wikipedia page.. he's pretty awesome except one time he held his family hostage.
that gyroget thing is pretty neat, i'm kinda disappointed though.. i was hoping for a gun that shot gyros. who would want to hurt you after you shot a tasty pita sandwich at them?
my apologies for making this thread get so OT. for the record i don't own a desert eagle or a fleshlight. in reality i generally carry an alien multitool, 15mm wrench, crank bros mini pump, tire levers, tube/patch kit, camera, food/booze, the aforementioned washboard and slingshot, and other squatting necessities. -

I used to carry the "tire stuff," a backpack with my laptop and possibly a jacket, but I think I'm gonna go with meatroll and just carry a rambo knife and a raven riley fleshlight.....and maybe a dark beer or two. (cause you never know how long you'll be away from the ladies on a ride) -

my bike is my exclusive transportation so since its getting cold now my bag looks like this:
tire levers, 6and8mm hex, 15mm box wrench, electrical tape (who needs patches when you have electrical tape), tube, baby sized pump, pocket knife, fixed bladed knife (basically a dagger, seriously), flask o' whiskey, full change of clothes, 2 plastic bags, extra upper layers, goggles. and books if i'm going to class. and a u-lock. -

Road & MTB - Tube, CO2, levers, phone (in jersey pockets) and water bottles. I only use a camelback for long MTB rides.

Damn, that sucks Meatroll. Is your collarbone starting to normalize? I've been contemplating getting a seagull or freight messenger bag... My Chrome is too small sometimes for practical stuff like grocery shopping and the like... Also I want something more personal and custom. Chromes are everywhere now, I got mine like 2 years before they were 'cool'. Frankly, their older designs are much better anyway. The D-Ring works smoother on mine than on the newer ones. -

Tube, multi tool, C02 device with extra cylinder, tire tool, Cliff Bars, Cell phone, GPS with extra batteries, and if I'm going into the rural desert areas (but not onto a Indian Reservation) I carry a handgun (usually S&W Scandium J frame .38+p which weighs ~17oz, and if I'm really going out there where mountain lions or drug smugglers tend to roam its a .44spl or .357 revolver in a shoulder rig). Also LOTS of H20... two 24 OZ bottles and if on a Mtb a large camelback; in the desert mother nature is an unforgiving bitch. -

I pack a tube, pump, phone, tire levers, lights, 15mm wrench, book or two(currently a collection of h.p. lovecraft sories), lock, school stuff if I am headed there, and nice clothes if I am heading off to go do my student teaching.
Oh can't forget a jacket, in case this crazy denver weather decides to change on me without warning(on friday, I was riding around comfortably in my shorts and tshirt in 60ish degree weather and two hours later, it began snowing on me!), andsome sort and food. Always lot's and lot's of vegan food. -

@ the op'er
I cycle just about everyday and almost year round . except when the snow is deep . I live in Sweden !
i carry general personal item . ( wallet , mobilfon ,keys , glasses ,u lock and a reserve jacket / long sleeve )
for not personal items . multi toll kit reserve Tubular ( no glue ) spoke wrench , screwdrivers ,froglamps ,chain puller and a pump .
It's a good idea for me to carry these items , i like ot help others who are in need as well who may not as prepared as me , but it feels great when you break down and can fix it yourself . and to help others who are broken down as well .
Hope this answers your question .
Cheers
