Can someone tell me why they are so good? I might put risers on my girlfriend's new(to her) bike and I want to know what all the hype is about. -

I prefer odi's long neck grips over oury, but to each his own. Fortunately neither are very pricey, leaving you able to test the waters without breaking the bank. -

What makes you prefer them? -

They're longer, won't slip, and ribbed for his/her pleasure.
Seriously though, I just find them comfortable. It's really just a personal preference, which is why I would recommend trying both if possible, then deciding on which you'd rather ride endless Houston miles with. I have the ODI grips on my daily commuter (15-20mi. each way), and rarely get any notable discomfort. -

I doubt she'll be riding near as much as me, but I intend to see how much she will. When I get paid, hopefully on the first, I'll build her a rear wheel and order some grips if she doesn't like the bullhorns I got her.
Edit: And I know this doesn't matter, but it seems the Odi's come in teal, the same color as the frame, bonus matching. -

There are MUCH better BMX grips that not only look better, but are also longer and more comfortable and last longer. Oury grips are just cheep and a trend. -

then point me in the right direction. Bmx grips are not my specialty, anything said is more than I know. -

They are comfy. Thats why I ride them. Plus I live in Colorado(where they are made) so I'm supporting my local companies. -

Ergons are cool if you ask me. Its a love em or hate em sort of thing though.
Oury lock ons are nice too. I use them on my mountain bike so I always have gloves on when I ride with them. They get a little sticky in bare hand situations. What is nice about them is that they seem to absorb more shock than other grips I have tried. Forgiving grips is important when you ride a rigid mtb.
I dont mess with any grip that isnt lock on anymore. I HATE twisty grips. Thats not realistic for most fixed riders since they all seem to cut their bars so short that their grips go down the bend of their risers. -

Ergon GP1s are my must-have for all flatbars - every flat rig I own will have them as long as they're still available. They're not soft; they have a few different densities of rubber, shaped to fit your palm. I find it provides relief for an ulnar nerve problem I have in my left hand, and eliminates most tingling.
But then, I'm a lot older than most of you, and my body is falling apart. -

Dude ourys are made here? Dope! I was thinkin about tossin some risers on my GTB I got comin in the mail. I'll definitely grab a pair then.
Oh hey you guys got any cheapy risers layin around the spare parts bin at your shop I can cut down and slap those grips on?
For some reason I just can't justify spending real money on riser bars. Like they're just for fun and dickin around on, not winning races. -

Yea, the lowest I could find is 8.99 online, and after shipping that will leave you at the same amount you would have spent for better grips at a local shop.
The price difference between most grips is negligible, and shouldn't even really be a deciding point on the purchase. -

i've never tried the 4mm champ grips, but the 2mm "normal" size ones offer little in the way of cusion for your hand. that being said, the 2mm ones on track drops are pretty garbage as well. just tape your bars already -

I have champs on my tarck bars. I've had Ourys on motorcycles and they turn your hands black no matter what color they are, and when it's sunny out they feel gooey, that's why I hate them.
