There are plenty of good looking hubs out there... I personally think profile hubs look pretty damn good. What would cause you to perceive a hub as better looking?Posted By: you dont know meMichael Jackson, 1958-2009
but he was just spotted playing world of warcraft ... -

They're not for sale yet but I really like these http://valliecomponents.com/ I think they look sick, and on the practical side of things no worries about stripping threads. Zipp track hubs look sweet too. -

So why haven't companies looked back and reinterpeted the old designs?
Function is all imortant... but it can be beautiful as well.

I agree... but it's all matter of taste, I am sure that most of the todays companies believe that they offer beautifully designed products.
I personally don't think so... Most of the current production hubs are too chunky, too function oriented and don't have style or elegance that for example Campagnolo C-Record (sheriff star) hubs had. They also use very aggressive branding, logos are huge.
Italians do it well... industrial design (in general) for them is very important.
But as I said, since it's all matter of taste it basically comes down to what you think about product that you are producing / buying.
I am sure there will be lot of different answers on "What is your favorite track hub design?" question. -

Let's look at the Formula Hub.... inexpensive, durable, upgradable.
How much more does it take NOT TO put those ugly cutouts on them? -

it was said in a following context:
all attention went to function none to style/look/design, therefore too function oriented -

The Cane Creek V-33 is the best new hub idea in a long time...
I'd like to see a new retro design... Can we post drawings on here? -

I just got a set of the new Cane Creek V's with their new hub design. I have yet to fully test them, but they seem like an improvement on the traditional style of hub. First off, having the spoke nipples at the hub reduces rotation weight. They say this makes the wheels about 6%-7% faster, compared to the same wheelset with the nipples on the rim. Second, having straight pull spokes, without the J bend in them lets you tension them much higher, making stiffer, more responsive wheels.
The new Cane Creek hub seems like the first hubs in awhile where the company is actually trying to break out of what's tradition and use technology to improve something. I think, with time, we will see more hub/rim companies starting to incorporate this design and idea. -

Those look awesome. You should update your bike photos to reflect all the changes you've made. I'm interested in how it all turned out -
