should i coldset my rear dropouts from 126mm to 130mm on my mondia criterium? i wanna put my fly ass 10 speed campy group on it. the frame is beautiful: has internal routing, gorgeous "splatter" paint and campy fork ends. but i looked around to see if its desirable. im pretty sure it's also been drilled to accept newer brakes. it also might be already 130mm spaced, i need to check but i'm positive its 126.
ALSOOOOOOO if i decide not to do it, how are those full carbon ebay frames? the ones that are sub-$500 and raw carbon. KTHNXBAI -

That's only 2mm per side. If you really weren't sure about cold setting them, you could just squeeze the wheel in there. Otherwise, yeah, I've respaced a couple frames, it's not too much work. The easiest way is just to stretch only one side until it's spaced at 128, then stretch the other until it's 130. That way you can skip that whole process of trying to make sure it's straight with string and whatever else people use. -

a full carbon ebay frame came into the shop i work at a few weeks ago....super flimsy feeling....very thin carbon......kind of scary, i could flex it with my hand about 3 mm..... -

The cannondale super six frames are like that, you can just squeeze the top tube with your hand. -

Don't bother with a cold set. 2mm per side is insignificant, as said. For what it's worth, 130mm Dura-Ace hubs made around the 126/130mm transition had conical hub nuts that allowed one to easily slip them into a 126mm frame. Point being, it's no stress on the frame, so definitely better not to respace.

Yep! Just squeeze. It'll be fine. That's one of the nice things about steel.
