Yes, we don't like questions in the forum. Please direct all inquiries away from the the people with cycling knowledge who already obviously don't have anything better to do than hang out on the velospace forum. We're too busy not doing anything to answer questions... -

The majority of the topics on this site could be answered with a couple of minutes of searching through google. If I have to stare at a computer all day, I prefer a little human interaction out of it to keep my brain stimulated. -

the real answer is that most those budget disks are home made.
Making them is a pretty big pain in the ass, if you have no fabricating experience, it would be near impossible. -

Now now, let’s talk nice and leave the sarcasm to those more dissevering like Lickedwicked.
I admit that a little searching work will answer many questions provided you know how to ask the right way, & I am as guilty as the next. I remember back in the day when I first got the bike bug and as a kid cut the detailer guard out of my back wheel so it would look more like a “real” road bike. I just wanted to ask someone who would just know & tell me the answers to my bike questions. I bet we’ve all been there even if we don’t admit it...
That said, great answer rabbi! -

I made my own... sort of.
I did a little internet'n and came to the conclusion that I didn't like any of what was available. I wanted some to test, paint, polo etc. The CH aero's were black and cost more than I was willing to pay. The homemade jobs were fine but I decided there had to be a better way than the cut and paste method. So here is what I have so far...I don't know if you have a plastics guru where you live, but it may be worth looking into. I went to visit one of the coolest shops I have ever seen, Austin Industries, Melbourne Florida. He has all kinds of CNC machines and does fabrication for a lot of aerospace type companies. It started out with a phone call and an order for one sheet of .030" x 4' x 8' white styrene plastic. I had a to scale drawing of what I wanted (I knew that one semester of mechanical drafting would pay off eventually) and as we were talking about what I was trying to do he entered all of my measurements into a CAD program and made a file to upload into the CNC mill. I asked how long to cut, he replied, five minutes! So a few minutes later I was holding 3 sets of wheel covers, perfectly cut and actually round. So the issue now is forming the needed 3/4" dish in the cover. There are many options here, the two that I have are; cut a slit and overlap the seam about 3/8" and plastic cement the seam, proceed to mounting to wheel. Second option, which is a little more advanced and probably not for the one off builder, involves thermoforming the covers. I believe I have a workable design that has yet to be built, the first three -- failed small scale tests have led to the current vacuum heat thermo chamber(sounds fancy doesn't it). It is a vac chamber wood box with a stove heater element and a mold. I can't say anything will come of it, just another project to keep the gray matter interested....
Pic of wheel covers -- slit method -- not actually attached, just test fitting. Hope that helps...
