Do they actually make non-machined solid black aeroheads? I remember seeing them on the velocity website(its down now, at least for me), but I can't actually find them for sale anywhere. All I can find are solid black deep v's which it looks like I'll have to settle with.

I have a blue nmsw aerohead at home. It's anodized a weird shade of light blue though, so I can't say how old it is. It's the kind of color you'd expect to see on a bike from the 90s

I think I might have to just buy a deep v

Dude, dont buy a rim you dont want just because it comes in a color you do want. function>fashion.

I was actually looking at the deep v first, I've heard mixed opinions about them but i figured for $60 or $70, why no try it? But my dad has a set of areoheads on his cyclocross and he likes them so I started looking at those.

You can get exactly what you want, but you may have to pay full MSRP to get it. You're in Houston, so I'm guessing you have several LBSes in your area who could order it from Velocity's US distributor. Cambria Bike has non-machined black AeroHeads in 32H/36H for $49; if you prowl through the rest of Velocity's online dealers, you may be able to find them for less.

The updated website has this new "Bassboat" finish, which changes color based on the viewing angle - slicko-jet! If I can get the blue-to-green finish on a machined Deep-V, it'll go on this bike with green Michelin Mud cross tires. Ooooooo.....

nah, i was scoping out those bass boat deep v's. they look friggin' beautiful. i have a set of black non-machined deep v's with gold formula hubs that i haven't put to use yet, and was thinking i might sell. i've only kept them around for the sake of having a sealed set of wheels i can toss on in the next round of storms, but we've been pretty lucky lately.

off topic: did you flood with that last shit storm we had? water was knee deep in front of my house, and a tree fell on my roof cause the ground was so saturated. kind of made me wish i had some phil's to test the submersible pump seals :)

ok good, I got those wheels from performance for like $80 5 years ago.

And no, we did not. The bayou behind the house almost went over so almost. My girlfriends house flooded bad though, she lives off of britmore.

I have, I calculated shipping It was like $240 to build up deep v's spokes hubs nipples all.

my lbs wants like 375 built up, and none of this $250-350+ shipping ebay bullshit. Show me better?

Ohh, and it would be nice to find a dealer of black nm aeroheads, I need a 36 hold... I just scored a 28h for $30 along with a 650c deep v and 2 other rims. I could always go with a fusion though...

out of my price range, I know its not too much more, but I'm already spending a lot on the eno hub.

and I've already had the rim ordered(my dad/mom's b-day present, they are gonna teach me how to build a wheel)

17th birthday for anybody who cares

Well. They are hands down a better rim and your bike will look a lot nicer. Deep v's are ugly pretty brutal looking, except the high polished silver. I have had my open pro cd's for awhile now and I have had to true them maybe twice.

Congrats on your birthday! Did you already order your eno hub?

Thats all opinion, I don't think the deep v's look bad.

And I'd assume he ordered it already.

Of course it is opinion. I think on your bike a nice set of classy wheels would look a lot better. The eno was a good choice for that bike. I mean you are pretty limited for choice of rear.

there has actually been a change in bikes. Its still a Scattante frame, but its not 7005 aluminum, its easton ultralite, and generally a better frame. I will be taking the ultegra components off this bike and putting them on the red frame.

It is rough with vertical dropouts though. You can never get the chain right. That is why the eno is gonna be awesome for that bike.

To the comment made earlier regarding what must have been some bad customer service. I apologize for what must have been a bad day. Sorry you caught me on the rag that day (yes I am a guy).
Just to clarify Prowheelbuilder is located inside ProCyclery but is in the process of moving to a remote warehouse so we can operate more efficiently.
