are pitlocks compatible with track hubs? you'd need to switch out the solid axles for hollow ones, but are there hollow axles of the correct dimensions for track hubs even available?

has anyone actually done this before?
  1.
They should fit with a skewer like the ones that come on dimension hubs, but I think the general consensus around here is that any kind of skewer is never going to put up with the forces a rear wheel goes through when someone is starting and stopping at that high of a gear ratio. Road bikes with vertical dropouts don't have that problem because the axle has no where to go. You're most likely going to keep pulling the wheel forward and crooked if you try to use them.

The front wheel should be fine though

they'd be for the front only. u-lock through the rear wheel & downtube.

I have a formula hub - compatible? where would I get a hollow axle of the matching dimensions?
  2.
I would just take one of your axle nuts into your local shop and see if they have an axle it will fit on. I can't remember if the formula hubs have lips on the inside for the bearings to rest again. You could still replace it with a straight axle even if it does, you'd just have to keep an eye on the axle adjustment, or else the bearings will wear out faster.
