Lightweight, yes. But not really safe.
Having a super lightweight lock is not that important. -

I would not use an aluminum lock.
I'm reluctant to use my aluminum bike!
That said, any lock is better than just hoping no one takes your bike... but if you are going to spend $ on a lock why not a more secure one? Something that's harder, not easier, to break open? -

I remember seeing those forever ago, it took me a couple minutes to figure out if they were real or not, just because it didn't seem logical enough to be real. I can see situations where it really doesn't matter. They're not any less safe than a $10 lock from kmart, but still. -

I would only use it to lock my front wheel to my downtube....other than that go with a kryptonite mini/bulldog mini.
