Has anyone heard of a bike company called Crescent? I picked up a bike at a yard sale, it was made in sweeden and has campy record components. -

Crescent is a swedish brand (used to be Monarck a long time ago). Orange seems to have been their favorite color for whatever reason. I have one that I call the "Pumpkin". In any case many Crescents were relatively "high end" bikes builts of reynolds 531, the main difference among models being components attached to the frame. However, some were more towards the "low end" or "Gaspipe" range, also, with welded rather than lugged construction
, steel one-piece crankshafts, etc. I have not heard of the scandia model, nor have I heard of reynolds 601. Sure it does not say 501? -

Well, there's this, and this. According to posts on several forums, Crescent/Monark was Sweden's Schwinn in the old days; more recently, it's been part of a group that also owns Bianchi, Gitane and Peugeot. According to this clumsily translated history, the original Crescent operation in Sweden was a branch of an American manufacturer of the same name.
What era are we talking about? When you say Record, do you mean '60s Record, '70s/'80s Nuovo/Super Record, '80s/'90s C-Record, or '90s/current Record? If the components are of the same period as the frame (lugged or not? steel or aluminum? Are there any decals telling you what the frame's made from?), it's probably a reflection of the quality of the frame. Even if the components were added later, it would be odd reasoning to hang a lot of pricy parts on a junky frame.
If it's a fully-functional bike, why not get a few photos up? It'll be easier to figure out what's going on if we can see it. -

my roommate has one and converted it from a ten speed. eventually he cracked one of the arms that connects the crank to the chainring. he had to get in spot welded together till he finishes piecing together his 75 peugeot. The Crescent looks damn sexy though.
