Dunno the brand. Padded palms and knuckles. Fingerless from the middle bend of your fingers to the tip. Helps with more grip on the handlebars and when you need to grab things or push off or cars. -

I hate wearing gloves if I don't need them. Otherwise I have some random thin neoprene gloves I wear when it's starting to get cold, or raining, I have some of those lobster claw/ninja turtle gloves when it's pretty cold, and some thick snowboarding mittens for the worst parts of winter. Ooh, and just some bmx gloves that stop at my wrists for when it's cold enough to wear gloves, but warm enough that I may be riding without a long sleeve jacket, or with my sleeves pushed up a little. -

Pearl izumi's with the gel are great. depending on your grips, its keeps your hands from getting gummed up with grip tar. i think gloves are nice. they are one of those items where you initially scoff at people who wear them, try them once and lik ethem, and soon wonder how you ever rode without them. i prefer the full finger too, they help keep my palms intact when i fall -

Ever since I went through a nasty crash 'n slide three years ago (where I shredded my palms and several of my knuckles, in addition to both knees and the entire right side of my body from calf to shoulder), I always wear full-finger gloves. I've been through several pairs, wearing some out and leaving some behind in my travels. I had a pair of Cannondale gloves I liked a few years back (nice and grippy).
Currently, I'm swapping between a pair of older generation Pearl Izumi Pittards Elite Thermal gloves (full leather palms and fingers, knit cuffs) and Spenco Police gloves (padded leather palm, terrycloth wipe thumb), which allegedly have a "groove" over the carpal nerve which is supposed to prevent nerve damage. I'm not sure what groove they're talking about; there are seams in unusual places, which I suppose might follow the carpal nerve. They also have a nifty reflective POLICE on the index fingers. I think it would be more effective if they reversed the type, so that when you point left at left turns, the word POLICE would show up nice and bright in the trailing car's headlights.Posted By: muckymuckyi just found out leather football gloves work on my iphone when biking~ (because leather transmits electric current?)
I've read that tracky guys recommend wide receiver gloves or batting gloves, because they're thin, light, and stick to the bar tape. When I was replacing gloves last summer, I stopped into a sports supermarket and discovered that such gloves cost about half what bike-specific gloves cost. But they have no padding, so short track races are probably all they're suited for.
My Gloves of Lust are the hotsy-totsy keirin things with carbon knuckles, like the Tanabe Defense or the Josiah Ng Pro Fortress. The Fox Unabomber looks like a good option from the mountain side, although previous years had carbon on all knuckles.
To be honest, I have no idea whether carbon-plating your knuckles actually protects you from injury in a wreck. But spending a bunch of money and getting blingy bits on your gloves sure makes you feel like you've done something productive. -

I wear BMX gloves on the street. Saves your skin more than a helmet. Long fingers for track. Short for hot days, no gloves for TT's. -

I like the old mesh backed kind in good weather, full finger or lobster mitts when it’s nasty out. -

Fingerless in summer, full-fingered insulated Pearl Izumis in the winter.
I just washed my fingerless gloves after I went to wipe the sweat off my forehead on the terrycloth back and it scratched me. The water in the sink was so dirty, I literally couldn't see my gloves. Totally opaque. They were obviously full of sweat, snot, and road crud.
I also took a teeny spill the other day that really would have fucked up my hand had I not been wearing them. Plus, they make the grip better. -

As an added idea. Weight-lifting gloves are also ideal in my personal opinion. At least during nice weather since they are normally fingerless (the tips, not the whole fingers). The gloves are also padded at both the knuckles and the palms and also have great grip. These are due to their original purpose of being able to handle and grip heavy weights safely. I feel if they can do that job well, they can be pretty good biking gloves. -
