Has anyone tried to put FULL fenders on a Kilo TT Mercier ?? The bikes are such a solid deal for a new fixed gear but I can't find any examples to see if there's enough clearance behind the seat tube or between the front wheel and the downtube. Anyone know for sure ?? I'm talking FULL fenders, not a clip-on. -

it does not work. even with 23c rubber. unless you can find some seriously small fenders. i ride one of those clip on half fenders in the back that mount to the seat stays. works just fine. you could maybe squeeze a fender in the front if you ran 23c but it would be damn close.
i dont think any full rear fender would clear.
moral of the story don't count on it.
if you want a bike for full fenders get a mark v or a steamroller. -

get a clip on rear (planet bike's are pretty nice), and one of the fenders that velcros to the downtube, but full fenders, not on a tt
or, ya, get a bike more suited for it.

I have fit full fenders on my friends Kilo TT, I am talking full retro steel fenders. (It was a 2004 Kilo). However, the only problem is was in finding a connection point on the dropouts. However, the clearances were fine. I will try to dig up a pic or take one for ya. -

That you all for your comments. This is helpful.
LyKqiD I would definitely like to see those pictures if you have them.
I'm also going to take a closer look at the Surly SR. I think there's even actually a nice one at my LBS with some Sugino Messenger cranks.
Basically I was hoping for actual eyelets which would be a cleaner, more durable installation.
I'm not a big fan of zip ties and rubber whatnots for attaching stuff to my bikes that should be bolted or screwed on.
The Kilo is the only inexpensive or entry level SS I've found that has eyelets on the dropouts.
I kind of slid some Planet bike fenders into the frame of my Pista and it seemed tight but I got the impression that they could be fitted with a little dremel work if I just had some eyelets. I'm fine with 700x23 and that's what I run most of the time.
It started occuring to me that fixing a rear flat on the road would get a little more complicated but w/e. I need real fenders cause doing my "training" ride in the evenings after work at the gym in a spin class just seems so wrong sometimes. Although, there are always some nice looking women in there. -

I use this. I'm a huge fan of it, i trimmed the front a little, and can slide the mount through my seatstays and get it adjusted just so. no scratches, no problems. and i can take it off in a half of a second.

I always thought tht these make sense for the front, even if they are ugly as sin
