I can but I don't. That is what my bmx bike is for. I will though on occasion pop a sick wheelie and rip it down the street.

Eventually you will fuck up. I have been riding brakeless fixed for almost four years now and I can stop faster on my bike with brakes. I do not care how aware you are it is the other people who can be reckless that you have no control over.

Riding singletrack on a MTB is where its at, log-overs and drops may be considered tricks?

At my age, doing a stoppy is about all I’m good for these days. Still, I enjoy watching “kids” do stuff on bikes that that I never thought possible when I was younger...

PS: Look for an up comeing swing bike added to my bikes...

No high horse at all. I just see some guy who just built his bike and thinks he knows everything that will happen to him on the road. Stopping is a good thing.

The other day while riding through Allston, and I almost got hit, in two seperate incidents, by kids who just either built or obtained their brand new "fixies." One could not stop his bike in time. Not because it was a short stop but because he had no control over his bike and then he forced me into parked cars. Then he called me a "roadie" and sped off. Im not even going to discuss the other one.

So I am sorry if I have no patience for bullshit statements.

There is no bullshit whatsoever in what I say, I've built my bike the way I want it and I'm starting out slow, I only ride around my neighboorhood and am still feeling everything out, I don't go on group rides or haul ass through heavy traffic or anything stupid like that I dont know where you get off saying I'm spouting bullshit...I keep myself safe...sure there could be that random car in my suburban neighboor hood that could possible pull out of his driveway going a whopping 2 MPH but I guess I'm willing to take that chance

I've come to accept certain risks

Let me begin with NOONE REALLY rides as you are suggesting in their first few attempts at riding a fixeed gear bike, I think some of you forget not everyone is as seasoned as you are

    1. I just may do that soon
    2. most of my parts were given to me and i just havent come across that yet
    3. if i test my limits around my hood and get skidding down I may not need it, I've only had the bike for about 3 weeks now and only 5 days out of that time has weather been permitting of riding

I used to feel the same way but it seems as of late there is an increasing number of fixed gears on the road. New riders in citys is bad as it is, add no brakes to that equation and it gets hairy.

    1. As far as the brakes/no-brakes argument, its the rider that makes a bike safe, not the bike.
I have ridden road for 6 years, brakeless for 4, and I rarely skid if ever, and never had a wreck. skidding = unessential
    2. Is track standing a trick?
    3. Is riding backwards a trick?

I am sorry if my opinion is snobby, but if you want to do 'real' tricks besides what you did in your driveway when you were 10 (skid, wheelie, barspin).... get a bmx... Road/track bikes have not been ergonomically designed for a rider to be able to explore that function of its design as a trick bike, hence why even the 'experts' at tricktrack can do maybe 2% of the tricks a person on a bmx can do. (thats just my snobby opinion from coming from a bmx background.)

    No harm there!

And for everyone else, I'm going to pick up a front brake and lever today for 5 bucks :)
  5.
Tricks on track bikes are pretty lame in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong, I love mashing, and doing the occasional Wheelie , but when your buying bmx gear for your "track" bike so you can gap a 5 stair and do barspins...its really time to just get a bmx.
I see no end in sight however, with new companies sprouting up everyday offering 700cMX gear, it's soon becoming its own genre of riding.

Oh well, as long as people are having fun riding bikes I'm happy, but I'll be saving the tricks for my AtomLab "trailpimp".
  6.
Ya'll are some squabbling pixies be happy it's another cyclist, and also don't assume your always going to be safe, once you ride the city, you can see how amazingly stupid people can be in easy situations.

So your saying that because I think new riders in citys are dangerous, and that because I think new riders riding around with no brakes in the city are even worse that I have no merit posting to this website? I think that top tube pad is cutting off the circulation to your brain.

Fixed gear freestyle to me is just re-appropriated bmx tricks. But very poorly done.

One of my favorite bmx parts of all time:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqsR8A6psvM

Track stands are really awesome when people can do them very well. When things come together just right its awesome. I cannot do any of that though. Also, wheelies fucking rule on any bike. One things that always bums me out when riding my fixed gear is that I cannot manual.
