General: fixed in a triathlon

There is a short triathlon in my area coming up. .5 mile swim, 11 mile bike, and 5k run. was wondering if i will be able to run my fixed (with no brakes). this would be my first tri. was kinda just wanting to show up and go for it. is there a bike inspection at these type of events? not trying to win it or anything just want to finish it, but i will still be putting in 100%! cant let those guys with gears laugh too much.
