Built up? In What condition? What components?
  2.
What retail store is selling stuff from 1984?
  3.
    it's not a store. it's on craigslist.

but good condition, some guy rebuilt it with deep v's, and a campagnolo front brake, and (possible) crank set. everything else is "stock" according to him, whatever that means.

there's not really a retail price for that kinda thing.

he could probably get ~$800 for the frame on ebay, ~$300 for the cranks (if they're campy record pista), etc.

offer him $900 and go from there.

I've seen nicer go in the 7s on ebay. I've seen this one posted for a while. A $1000 is too much in my opinion, if were talking "going rate". There is a black frame on ebay right now too. If you really want to make this bike look ultra sexy your going to need to, assuming the hubs are campy record, lace a vintage set of vintage rims back on the hubs, remove that modern looking brake lever(Possibly the whole brake assy.) & put some tape on the bars. You could probably sell those wheels all together & come out even buying a decent set of vintage wheels. Looks like it needs decals also. Personally, I love my vintage Pinarello & think it's every bit as good as any modern bike I've ever ridden(Just a bit heavier),how does one put a value on that? That said, I could build another 80's Pinarello racing bike with full campy gearing for under a $1000. If this frame were in Mint condition. No question, it'd be worth it. But, from the looks of it, it's not...

yeah i meant what's like a good offering price. but hyde you're sayin' that the whole setup isn't worth as much as it should be?

I'm saying that the Value of a new bike vs a vintage bike is really off. For example, I have an expensive newer bike & have had many High end steel bikes from the 80's & 90's. I can build a high end road bike from the 80's with mostly matching Campy Record Parts for under a thousand dollars. Do that with a new bike & your looking at 6G, at least. Weight Difference? about 3-4 lbs for a comparable bike. Difference in performance?Minimal.
I haven't seen the bike up close & The pictures supplied aren't that telling so I couldn't give an opinion on what it's worth. Ask for better pictures & Decide what it's worth to you. He obviously hasn't sold it yet...
