I got a Pista and liked it so much I bought a second one but I'm gonna say go with the Kilo. The "true track" geometry on the Pista rocks and despite what all the Pista haters say the stock components aren't all that bad. I never had any problems except when the left crank arm came loose after about 1,000 miles. I tightened it down and have put over 5,000 thousand miles on it without incident. I did replace the headset with Chris King but only because it's been my favorite bike and I wanted to make it even better, not because I had a problem the the stock Cane Creek headset. Because I use my Pista so much for training I wanted to put some bomb-proof wheels on it so I had my LBS build up some Phil Wood hubs with Velocity rims. The thing is, at about 3,000 miles my stock wheels were holding up so well that I couldn't bear to retire them. One day when I had to replace the tires I finally just put the new wheels on anyway. Now the front wheel is on my son's bike still working great. I can go on and on but suffice it to say I'm a Pista fan.
However, I bought my first Pista new for $500 and at that time it came with a front brake. My second I got in near new condition with nice assortment of extras for $400. The Pista is alot more expensive now with an MSRP of about $700+ and you'll probably end up paying tax too. The real question is are you buying new? I've looked pretty carefully at the The Kilo TT and it's specs are almost identical to the Pista but costs only $350 +free shipping from www.bikesdirect.com. Same Cane Creek headset, same Truvativ Touro Cranks, etc.. The Kilo will take racks or fenders which might eventually be nice depending on where you live and when you ride. What you don't get with the Kilo is the Pista geometry and ovalized downtube for the frame, and the track style bars. I just can't see how the extra money for the Pista is justified at this point. It's hundreds of dollars! You can get upgrade or customize all sorts of stuff on the Kilo TT for the difference in price. Whew. There it is. Defintely the Kilo TT you cant beat the value right now. -

Hey thanks, I ended up purchasing the Kilo after some consulting. I almost bought the Pro but that would be about another week and brakes dont cost that much. I shop at Norcal Bike Sport in Santa Rosa nd I can get a good deal for front.
