so, i'm looking into a cannondale. i can't go see it for a few days but the owner swears he'll hold it for me. he says it's an '85 but the run down of the parts doesn't match the catalouge i found online @ vintagecannondale.com. i know that they would swap parts out occasionally if they were out of stock but...i guess my real questions are these - does anyone know when shimano started making deore and biopace? and or when did shimano start putting deore and biopace on their road bikes?

    thanks,
    hroddd

What does this have to do with cheese?

I'm sure this is of absolutely no help, but I used to have an 89' cannondale R600 that I bought as a frame, and built the whole thing up with shimano 600. Probably the same situation you're in, as I see a lot of those frames for sale.

Biopace came out in 83. Deore came out in 82.

The remainder is left as an exercise to the reader.

What makes you think the bike is stock?

I wouldn't trust much you read on vintagecannondale.com. if the parts are good why care what year it is ride it and have fun

got the bike. checked the serial #. 1988 ST600. really really good condish. really really good price. loaned it to my buddy until he moves to nyc in may since he wrecked his bike and bent up the handle bars. posting pic in a bit. full shimano 600 except for the rear deore derailer.

once el friendo is gone it will be kitted with rainy day gear and i will be selling my car. yippy.

How much did you get it for? I just sold my 89 R600, full shimano 600 as well. Mine didn't have clearance for fenders, otherwise I probably would've kept it.
