Have you had a wheel, frame, stem, or any parts powdercoated?
if so
did you do it yourself?
did you go to a shop?
how much did it cost?
what options do you have when it comes to color? can you pick your own color and add goldflake?
where did you get it done?
and if in southern california
can i have some phone numbers
im looking to getting something powdercoated -

As far as I know you have to have a Powder Coating company do it for you...unless you have an oven big enough to fit a frame or wheel into. They bake it at 400 degrees and you have to be able to charge the frame with static electricty so that the Powder will stick to it...
You can check out my red fixie. I just had it done for $100. Good luck and have fun. -

i had my white fuji track pro powder coated and a set of drop bars for $120 for the both of them. had it done at Indy powder coating. but powder coating is the way to go. they have a bunch of different colors but im not sure if you do flakes, they have like pearlescent colors, but not flakes. maybe they can but i asked this place and they couldnt. -

Here in Western Mass, there's a dude named Jesse Savoian who does a bang up job for $75. Nice guy, to boot. -

dude you guys are getting owned. i just had my frame and fork powder coated not to long ago for 65 bucks. and it came out GREAT and looks so fresh.
but anyway i would just go buy some strip ease or something and strip your frame (kinda a pain in the ass) but worth it and in my opinion better than sandblast, i have heard of a couple peoples frames powder coating looking weird after getting their frame sandblasted -

sandblasting helps to remove old paint, rust and to rough up the surface so the powdercoat sticks better. if the surface is too slick the powdercoat can peel but most of the time it won't (if it was done right). the weird look you are talking about might've been on an aluminum frame that was blasted with a too rough media. Stripping is always better than blasting because it does not remove metal from the actual frame... it just takes forever compared to 6 or 7 minutes of blasting with super rough media or 20 minutes of blasting with fine or glass bead type of media
used to do industrial sandblasting and powdercoating... quit that shit after almost two years cause it wasn't worth it -

I don't know what you mean by "weird". It can be gotten quite smooth. It also gets little crevices clean that are hard to reach otherwise.
So... getting "owned" because my frame was disassembled, blasted, coated, then reassembled for $75... ten bucks more than your job. Which, presumably, you had to do the stripping on yourself, which, in my experience, is a full day job with partial results. I don't follow. -
