This seems like kind of a dangerous question to ask... but what do you consider the best value track frame? Right now I ride an SE Lager. I want to stay with steel and I'd like something with a more "true" track geometry. I've looked at the Soma Rush, which seems pretty decent, the EAI Bareknuckle, which is obviously very popular but I've heard isn't as great as the price would suggest, and I've also considered a used Keirin frame. All suggestions are appreciated, no need to be an opinionated asshole...

Another good reason to get away from the SE Lager is that it weighs about a million pounds. If you upgrade to a frame made out of butted steel or aluminum you will be doing way better on weight than the straight gauge gaspipe they use on the Lager

I know.... I kind of regret the purchase. I thought I wouldn't mind the weight because I was coming from an old conversion, but I think the conversion was actually lighter. I'm just gonna try to throw some lighter wheels and components on there and hope that makes a dent in the weight.

I dont get why weight is an issue ? If your doing time trials or triathlons, super light is good, but with a track bike , the extra weight helps maintain speed.. but I assume your not going to be doing any racing..

I'm a pretty big fan of the IRO angus.

They are really hard to track down second hand, but I would see if I could find a EA Bareknuckle second hand. I just picked up one myself and I think this will be the last frame I will buy for quite awhile. The geometry is perfect and the frame is super stiff and light.

I thought weight wouldn't matter either, but I really notice a difference between my old conversion and my new SE. Sometimes it feels like I'm rolling on a brick. That said I still need to upgrade from a most of the stock components.
