Now everyone is set to post HTML code all the time!
No more random tags such as:<quote>omg</quote>
strewn about the forum - thank you $Configuration['DEFAULT_FORMAT_TYPE'] = 'Html'; -

Thank you greg! Was there a reason the option was included to not use html? -

Its the way Vanilla forum shipped out of the box -

Weird. I can't think of a situation that would deem a non html option necessary. -

Okay, does that mean we still need to put the tags in? That would make sense, but...
EDIT: Apparently so.
Does Vanilla have an option to include a GUI for the tagging options, so you can select a body of text and click a button to format it? -

If you're going to do that it might be wise to allow/implement the use of UBB code in addition to html. Plenty of people post UBB code on here. -

TinyMCE would be great. You might want to look into TinyMCE Advanced, which has some neato options.
Now, I'm going to try this out:

Kinda works. If you hit "X" to kill design mode and try to click "Enable design mode" it just sits there. You've gotta reload the page to get it back to design mode.
To be honest I kinda liked it being plain old html enabled. Easy enough to add pictures and links but kinda kept goofballs from crowding up every thread with photos.

new to this and still trying to figure these new controls! -

Also if you kill design mode all auto formatting (return = <br>, etc..) goes away. The above post shoulda been spaced differently.
Let's
See
If
It
Works
When
Design
Mode
Is
Enabled
Edit: yeah it works.
Double Edit: so html tags are disabled then? I guess all we'd be doing is there (lists, bold, urls, images).

Uhhh... so quoting a post doesn't work anymore in Firefox for OS X.
I gives these trouble making little buttons a big ol' thumbs down.
Today's earlier update was perfect.
HTML enabled by default, no need for more improvement.
