A friend of mine was just gifted a Benotto 11 Volte aluminum track frame, and he asked me to value it for him, since he's more interested in getting back to his home in Morocco than he is in the frame. I can't seem to find any info about this frame online. Does anyone here know what it's worth? The frame itself is brand new, with uncut fork and plastic inserts still stuck in the dropouts. It's quite pretty, and it's obviously a recent model, no more than three years old I would guess. The only thing I know about it is that it was made in Mexico, not Taiwan. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! -

Sounds fishy...
I could be wrong, but I don't think Benotto has made a track bike in years. I've also never heard of an aluminum Benotto track frame. Benotto isn't a quality brand anymore, to say the least.
James is right, we need photos or a serial number. Take a photo of the whole frame from the drive side, one of the underside of the bottom bracket shell, and one of the track ends. -

Oh, I don't mean to deride you for liking T-1000's, I just think it's funny that they are SOOO sought after. I think what bothers me about them is the huge tubes and teeny tiny fork. -

Alright, Thanks for the replies guys. I can't take photos of it at the moment, it's locked up in his apt, but the I took note of the serial number, it is FDTJ00056
I don't really know anything about Benotto's current incarnation, other than the fact that they are made in Mexico to lower quality standards than their italian counterparts. I did find that site with the missing pictures as well, but other than providing info that the frame came in red and black (the one my friend has is red) there's not much there.
Another identifying characteristic I noticed is that the seat tube features a groove down the center that the rear wheel/tire would presumably spin thru. Hope this helps. -

The thing that draws me in is the slight top tube slope down, not pursuit, but it slopes a little, Ya know what I mean? my orbea does it slightly. -

This makes me to believe that it is a genaric frame with benotto stickers on it, but I cant confirm it with out photos, and a definable serial number with photo, etc. -

FDTJ00056............. Judging by that low number, it may be that only a few were produced for whatever reason. Who the hell knows? -

Ok here is what you do Afreelunch, this what I did with my orbea. I couldnt really find any info on my orbea track frame, cause they didnt make to many of them.
I emailed Orbea directly, with the info that I knew(which was little) and some photos, they emailed me back with the info on the frame, year, and that in fact they didnt produce very many of them. So I would email Benotto directly, with photos and as much info as you have, and hopefully they get back to you. -

It's possible that it is a generic frame, however the logos are all painted on, or at least are proper decals. I did not think to try to identify the dropouts, but when I was looking the frame over in person I didn't notice any branding. I will try to get some pictures of the frame tomorrow, and I will throw them up here. A few other points, also printed on the frame was the phrase "Italian Technology" which appears to be their current tagline, it is displayed on their website. Beneath the name "11 Volte" I believe was printed "champione del monde"
But like I said, pics will come tomorrow. Thanks again guys. -

yea I just looked at that site, didnt seem to be much of a site though, probably the mexican thing was throwing me off, but it seems right.
Just take some pics, and look for other brandings or serial numbers, etc. -

I dont think the fact that few made will bring the price up alot more than the market value, my orbea sure didnt...Just my opinion.. -

-------------- As far as price goes, I don't think anyone is going to spend Pista Concept money on a track frame from Mexico with NO information whatsoever. If you can get some real info and manufacturing details, maybe. But I can't imagine you'll get more than $250-$300 for it without some major revelations. -

He wants to sell it. According to him, the person who gave it to him said it was worth 300, but he asked me to check it out for him. I'm not expecting it to be a big spender, he just wants to know a fair asking price so he can get it sold. I'll put up some pics tomorrow so you guys can see what it looks like. -

On a loosely related note.... I'm tossing around the idea of selling my Benotto Modelo 1000 to put towards funding either a touring set up or a 29er. I know the real value is what the market will pay, but I'm wondering what you fine folks would deem as a reasonable value for the complete bike.
The components are all in fantastic shape, but the frame has a number of scratches from the original owner. I'm debating just taking off the rust around the chips/scratches with steel wool and giving it a clear protective coating, or trying to match the current paint with some champagne touch up paint. -

Sucks that it's nowhere near my size, because I'd love to keep it for myself. I've been keeping it around for a friend who flies in to visit a few times a year, but I've been itching for a 29er lately. I'm a terrible friend. -

You always have to have it setup, your bike fund, car fund(if you have one), then if you can keep them out of your everyday funds, then your set.
