Advertising pays for the site. They are not always targeted towards the best audience. However, I got hooked by the FRS energy drink, and I'm thankful I did, because I find it to be a great product and drink it daily now. -

I use Ad Block Plus. When I'm browsing the site with my wife's computer, I'm often taken aback by the rollover ads.
greg, how much do you make from ads, monthly? You probably can't answer that, but if it isn't much, perhaps we can organize a group Paypal donation. Or something. -

velospace is 100% ad supported. If the site didn't have ad revenue it wouldn't exist -

Building muscle and FRS make sense because they relate to competitive cycling. WoW makes sense because this is the internet. The ad I just got for motor oil does not make sense. Who cares though. Websites either sell you something or sell the right to advertise stuff to you. Id rather have ads in the margins then have to pay. Ignoring ads is free. -

Thank God for these advertisements!
You see, not only do they make VeloSpace possible, but they can help even Lickedwicked to become a man. (Well, that’s the theory anyways...) -

Well I was gonna get smart assed with the OP and ask him how much he paid monthly to use the site and how the hell he thought the thing just kept running with zero revenue but I think everyone else, including the mighty Greg, pretty much covered it.
I will say I really don't mind the ad layout on Velospace at all. Some sites these days are getting absurd but Greg's kept it tidy around here. Now the day some Velospace ad starts screaming through my speaker that I've just won a goddamn PS3 I'm writin a letter, but until then they can advertise for buttplugs and online karate lessons for all I care. -

I wish there were more national bike advertisers so that the site would have only relevant, interesting ads for you guys. The company that sells ads for the site obviously casts a wide net when it comes to advertisers - I laugh when I see ads for SUVs and baby diapers and crap - but they send a check that keeps the lights on -

I'm not going to lie, the FRS ads were really grinding my gears:
* I dislike Lance Armstrong
* I hate Lance Armstrong
* Lance is not attractive
* I don't want to see him sucking on a FRS bottle like it is the teet of an Olsen Twin, or Justin Timberlake, or whoever he's dating now
* I don't want to see his bulging pecs as he lifts gigantic weights
* I tried FRS and it was only okay
* Lance Armstrong's anti cancer crusade bugs me (call me an ass, I don't care)
However, to greg, I greatly appreciate the site, the layout is perfect, and have the ads as long as it means we can come here and forget about our troubles! Plus, we need some bogus legal marijuana ads to relly get this place bumpin'. -

Here you go, I mean yes they are here, but it is what keeps it going, so by all means, have them. -

I love Velospace I'm on it everyday, Thanks to Greg for his posts, and providing me with this site. Lastly thank to those people who have nothing better to do than to try and condescend a total stranger. I'm fully aware of how websites finance their existence. I was mocking the ad companies for poor marketing strategies. I Also think it's kinda funny.
RELAX
love ya though! -
