Will be traveling abroad for 2 weeks, would like to borrow some type of protective bike box (perhaps freight baggage?). Will pay to rent. Need ASAP.

Call your local bike shops, if someone here doesnt have one...

I think he means a hardshell bike carry bag, not a cardboard shipping carton; presumably, he's going to bring the bike back.

Arthur, I recall seeing someone on Craigslist advertising a travel case for rent; you might check there. There's someone else on Craigslist who's been offering a pair of hardshell cases (one for the frameset, the other for the wheels and oddments) for the last few months for around $50.

I know what he meant, some bike shops around here rent out hardshell carriers.

thanks for the tips guys. i applied to join sffixed a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard back, i guess i'm not sffixed material :-)

i've read that some of the cases are considered too big and some airlines will not carry them even if you're willing to pay (e.g. serfas)

And just as I suggested, here's one on Craigslist - $100, assuming you want to own rather than rent.

It's a busy night tonight on Craigslist SF; here's another guy who's got a case for rent, or $180 straight purchase.

And I may have found myself a Bridgestone touring bike...everybody wins!
