hey dudes, I'm at work right now and i cant get on the phil wood site to check(aproxy) But i found a black 700cc H Plus son 700cc Clincher rim 50% because it is drilled 28 hole. I want to buy a h plus son for the rear wheel of my bike and i want to lace it to eitehr a Dura ace shamano high flange or a high flange Phil wood. Now im wondering if it would be a bad idea to ride a 28 spoke in the rear and does phil wood or dura ace make high flange 28 hole.
thanks for helping me get around the aproxy. -

Yeah Phil HF track hubs and Dura Ace HF 7600s both come in 28 hole if you want.
Is it smart to ride on a 28 spoke rear track wheel? Really depends on how much you weigh and how you lace 'em. With 28 holes you really need to make sure to lace that wheel 3x for decent strength. If you weigh 200lbs I'd recommend 32 or 36h for the rear but if you're barely pushin a buck thirty then you'll be fine.
Less holes, less strength, tiny weight savings.
Then again I'd also say dump the H-Plus rims and get you a set of 32 or 36 hole Mavic Open Pros for probably what you'd end up spending on even discounted H-Plus's. But I understand about style points and all that. -

yeah, I'm roughly 200lbs. the reason i was looking at the h+son is because i do alot of tricking, nothing tooo intense but its a nice safety net. although they are heavier. sounds like i might wanna just pass up the deal and wait to either find a deal for 32-36 or pay up. -

The giant, heavy rim isn't going to matter much if your spoke count is too low. Jaiden is 100% right, a fixed 28h 3x rear is crazy unless the rider is very light. Even then, it's not the best idea. The only reason to have a lower spoke count in the first place is to save weight, and the H Plus rims are, as you say, heavy, so why bother? -

If you want a good tricking rim and are 200+ then look at the Velocity B43 -

h plus son+tricks=failure
Those rims are really flimsy and not meant for tricks. I'm pretty sure a mavic open pro would be stronger.
Sure, they are fine as long as both wheels stay on the ground though. -

If we are all going to start suggesting whatever rim we like... Salsa Delgado Cross. Ive had them on my cross bike and 29er. Ive done dumb things on them and they are still true. Wide>Deep according to me. -
