Any one in Denver want to pitch for a velo-swap booth? I don't have enough money to spring for the 10x10ft space by my self.
Jay? Ian? anyone else from Denver who I dont know? I know you guys have butt-loads of parts to sell! -

Not specifically Denver-related, but more of a general swap observation: Have people outside Northern California noticed a lot more swaps this year? Around here, all the swaps happen in April/May, with The Pedaler in El Sobrante holding a semi-annual swap (April/October). But this year, there's been a bunch of swaps all summer, with events getting announced with barely three weeks notice. I restrict my sales activity to swaps where I don't have to pay a rental fee, like the Mill Valley swap; I make a donation to the cause if I make enough sales to cover my gas money. This year, there have been stores and freelancers running swaps all summer.
Is it just the economy? Are stores just trying to get more people through their doors? Are do-gooder orgs just trying to get a little more juice, at a time when nobody feels like they have enough to donate anything (I didn't make a straight cash donation for my BikeLove booth space, but I did pay them way too much for a Nuovo Record front derailleur)? Or am I missing something important? -

There have been a lot of new ones in the bay area lately. I can think of four reasons: 1) The economy sucks so there is a demand for used parts and a bunch of people trying to unload them 2) Cycling is getting bigger by the day 3) Its a side effect of the growing popularity of farmers markets 4) Shops want to be more a part of the "community" so their customers will stay loyal.
I think I'm going to split a spot at the big swap in San Jose on the 25th. Its only 10 bucks for the whole spot. Id put 5 on it just to have somewhere to park my bike, lawn chair, and cooler. If anyone wants to split a spot out here let me know. -

I'd take you up on it, but I'm going to the Pedaler swap that day.
One of the bigger frustrations with low-key selling at swaps is getting somebody else to watch your space while you're out shopping. I've always had neighbors who'd keep an eye open, but I don't want to be an imposition. I missed out on a desperately-needed $15 Nitto Technomic stem at the BikeLove swap because I had to get back to my booth to attend to a prospective buyer; by the time I got back, the stem was gone :-( -

You could come out to Denver and share my booth! -

How much is the booth? I know I could just go to the website and check but Velospace is about NOT finding things for yourself and asking others to do the work for you!
I was already planning on going for sure and I know Ian was gonna go too. Dude's always selling his stuff on eBay so I'm sure he's got some bits he wants to part with.
I'll have to rummage and see what I wanna get rid of. After building up two beaters for friends in the last month I'm running low on spare components. -

Depending on what the cost to rent a booth is, I would consider it. I don't have a ton of stuff I need to sell, but I have a wheel set I desperately I need to sell and can probably find a few other things laying around. -
