We've all seen the thousands of stock Bianchi Pistas on the road. They're beautiful bikes but could use a little tweaking from the stock components. What are the nicest Pista set-ups that you've seen either on Velospace or another site? -

Yeah, at this point there is nothing special about them, or their looks. I'm curious about the Pista Classica frameset:
I'm a sucker for chromed lugs. -

It's sad, there haven't been any threads I've cared to comment upon lately, but this particular one I did. -

99% of Bianchi Pistas you see these days are a drop in the bucket, nothing special no matter what. Mid-to-late-80's Pistas (circa 1986-9, before many users of this site were born), lugged with Columbus tubing were the only good ones Bianchi ever produced. Such as seen here, which is an example of the frames I'm referring to - http://velospace.org/node/1437
This one, with the opposite paint scheme, is for sale for $1200 - http://velospace.org/node/2265 -

My guess is between $600 and $800 depending on tubeset. -

The Classica has a slack 72.5 headtube angle. Totally ruins it for me. That, and the brake holes. I do like the threadless, but the straight fork, not so much. -

Yeah, Bianchi has all but given up on true track bikes. I'm a street rider and have never so much as set foot on a bike track, so I really don't care about track geometry. Maybe some time in the future, if I'm up in Portland... -

I prefer 74 degrees on the street as well. -

I don't know why but in America's Best Cycling City the asshole car drivers tend to hug the curb on streets with no bike lane. I'm in no mood to sit in traffic so this means going over a lane and then lane-splitting and then cutting back over. Steep angle/short wheelbase rules for this. I'm not hardcore just impatient. -

Yeah, you have quicker turns, but you also have more serious issues if a passing biker/car/homeless individual bumps your bars.
I realize that the site is filled with people who ride 74/75 on the streets, I just don't get it. -

Steeper head angle=more trail so more stable at speed. If anything it tracks better than my other bikes.
