If you were hit by a black SUV today by the corner of Manhattan and Greenpoint Avenues, I have the plate # (you rode away before I could give it to you) . I did call 311, and they said the precinct had to handle the incident. When I was transferred to the 94th, the officer on the line said that if I can find the victim and give him the info, he needs to make the report himself. -

It wasn't me, but i live in Greenpoint.
Maybe you should try posting something on Craigslist.org as well under the bike section as many people check that too. -

It must have not been that bad if he just got up and rode away from it quickly. -

He didn't appear to be hurt, but I wanted to offer the info in case he needed it. It's frustrating, because I at least wanted this to go on record but the police refused to take the number, claiming only the victim can file a report. What's the best way to proceed? I'm trying to do what's right without plastering a plate # everywhere, and what if this driver injures someone in the future?
It was certainly loud enough - I'd think the driver's music would have had to be pretty loud to not be aware of the impact. -
