Ok, so there is a kid selling an Orbea Track Frame for 300 dollars. Now I already have a Binachi Pista '01, I'm trying to decide if I should sell the frame and keep the wheels and saddle and pedals, to fund the Orbea getting on the road. If I should sell it, how much do you think I could get for the frameset? I'm dead set on getting this Orbea though, opinions on what I should do are greatly appreciated. -

orbea team euskatel pista, 56cm - 56cm c-t-c on both tubes. paint is nice. i would have liked to have kept this one but it is a little too big for me. the fork is a reynolds ouzo pro and it has a brake hole. includes tange/cane creek headset. columbus altec2 aluminum tubes, euskatel decal on tt

it's in almost mint condition. one little ding from stem coming around and hitting the top tube but other then that it's in perfect condition. -

plus i live in a city with a bunch of art students so you have to keep that in mind as well for the price. I was thinking more along the lines of 300 -

well i was just trying to fish for opinions on how much I could get for the frame really. I'm not good at gauging prices like that. -

I was thinking quick sale, but $300 is the going rate -

yeah I'm pretty excited about the bike, and for that price it's a steal. The owner says there is a small dent from the handlebars but whatever, it's not like i'm going to be tricking it. -

I also need opinions on cheap but good cranksets that I could get for this. I'm getting rid of the ones I have now to make the price of the Bianchi go up. -

That dent isnt a big deal, Mine is beat up, but that is from actual track racing, it came from cananda. I paid just over 300 for mine 2yrs ago, then found a matching color orbea fork from an orca, looks real sweet together. Mine is a 2004 model, and looking from the pic, yours is to. they also made them in 2005 and 2006, they did make them in production, but not very many of them, that is why im keeping mine forever, they are quite hard to find. I would almost say they are on the same level as the 90's cannondale track frames, but only different generation of course, but that rariety is getting there... -

yeah that's why i want to pick this up. Got any crank with bb recommendations? Trying to keep it in the 80-120 range. -

- CommentTimeSep 23rd 2009
what I been running is a njs sugino BB I had laying around and using a sugino GLP track crankset, the crankset is from the 80's, that combo is great, I would say any sugino combo really, they line up perfect and runs super smooth... but that is my opinion...Im sure you can find something on the cheap that would work great... -

- CommentTimeSep 23rd 2009
yeah I was thinking the rd2's for something cheap or the kyoto loco cranks. But I don't know I want something that includes the BB so I don't have to spend money on each one. -

here check out mine, and check out this other member.... pretty similar builds.

http://velospace.org/node/14881 , except he is using campy record for his crankset, which i was thinking of doing, but I dont need to go that expensive on the frame. It rides just fine with what it has -

- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
well if you must, just use what you have laying around or off of other bikes, if you have the sources to do that. But they are super fun to ride, and smooth for sure, I talked to a guy at orbea on email helping date my frame, and he says he has the one I have, and he used to race it, and now he uses it to commute on and says its the best commuter he has had...Posted By: giosSR215word yeah I'm trying to figure out my budget and see if I could get this running by the time i have a messenger race on friday haha.

Where is this Orbea for sale? Online auction? Or locally? It's going to be sold at $300 long before you sell your old Reynolds 520 Pista frameset with a dented top tube and crappy cranks for $350. I'm not hating, I'm just saying that if you're seriously trying to sell something to buy something, you're going to have to let it go for a lot less. I think danzap's $250 suggestion is more along the lines of what you should be asking if you want a quick(er) sale. And seeing how you posted this thread over 7 hours ago, the frame has probably already been sold (assuming you're not the only one who knows about it). -

If you really want it, sacrafice something... I'm selling my Gibson ES 135 hollowbody to buy a real track frame -

- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
well I already got a buyer for the frame and fork only for 280, and I'm picking up the bike tonight. So I guess you are wrong quidose. You forget I live in a city with a bunch of hipster that will pay ridiculous amounts of money for something that's not really worth it. I'm not complaining I'm happy. You also fail to realize I am the master of Craigslist. I got that pista for 100 dollars, now im selling it for 280 with less parts then it came with and only paying 40 dollars for a brand new bike. -

Maybe you're the master in your area, which has little to no competition, but I (or anyone else with the slightest bit of track bicycle knowledge) would've snatched that shit up so fast you wouldn't have even had time to make a for sale post for your Pista. But anyways, hope your buyer comes through, and pre-congrats on finding such a sick frame. -

I get what your saying quidose, there is almost litle to none track/fixie competition or selling going on where I live, So I have to resort to going worldwide to sell my stuff which makes it harder to do and compete with everyone else....
And gios, this is about making my day, going to see another orbea pista joining velospace, gonna definitly add you to the orbea cluster!!! -

haha nice. yeah I hope everything goes as planned tonight. I will be let down if it doesn't happen, but I'm thinking positive and that everyone will come through tonight.
Question: Do you think I could run a 109 mm BB with a stock Bianchi crank set and have a good chainline?
Please note that I will not be keeping those cranks on the bike. I will be getting new ones by the end of the weekend. -

Are you talking about TruVativ Touros? -
- CommentAuthorcyclecrazyjames
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
Not sure, the bottom bracket sheel is only 68mm -
- CommentAuthorgiosSR215
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
I don't know what kind of cranks they are, they have Bianchi printed on them. I'm assuming they are some entry level cranks. -
- CommentAuthorquidose
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
Right, but as far as I know, Pistas come stock with a TruVativ Touro crankset, which uses a 108mm bottom bracket. -
- CommentAuthorgiosSR215
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
Yeah the BB shell is standard, that's not what im worried about. it's spindle length and spacing on the back that im worried about with the bianchi stock cranks. -
- CommentAuthorgiosSR215
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
keep in mind this frame is from 01. -
- CommentAuthorquidose
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
Oh yeah, old school Pistas had Bianchi-branded stuff. I don't know - what bottom bracket do you use now? And does that give you good chainline? -
- CommentAuthorgiosSR215
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
yeah the chainline is on point with the one I have on there now. I just don't have a bb tool so I'm leaving the BB in the bike. -
- CommentAuthorquidose
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
Well what is it? Then you'll know the spindle length? Or did it come with the bike and you're not sure? -
- CommentAuthorgiosSR215
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
yeah im not sure it came with the bike. -
- CommentAuthorquidose
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
If the crankset has 130mm bolt spacing - which most likely means that the chainring attaches on the inside of the spider - then I'd probably use a 108mm bottom bracket. -
- CommentAuthorquidose
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
Or less. -
- CommentAuthorgiosSR215
- CommentTimeSep 24th 2009
a site is saying the 2002 had a spindle length of 107mm
