Dunelt was a British company started by two men who made steel in Sheffield. They made motorcycles from 1919 to 1935, then went out of business, or were bought out, or something. In the mid 50's BCC began making bicycles using the name. BCC later purchased the Raleigh brand and consolidated all of its fabrication at the Raleigh facility.
Long story short, you have an old British three speed (probably) made from steel. If you're wondering about quality, it's not great. -

Yeah, I've seen one which was almost cherry and it didn't look like much more than a $300 REI special. -

Too funny. To elaborate, I looked at an almost cherry (not restored, new-ish) Dunelt 3 speed and the work looked very similar to the shoddy crap I bought from REI for my wife because she wanted a cruiser. -

Sheffield is a town in the UK were they produce one of the finest steel alloy re-known worldwide , they also make fine precision tools, same goes with Solingen in Germany. Starrett tool co in Athol, MA also makes fine tools made of Sheffield steel. -

this will probably be hung on a wall because even though it is shit, from a distance it looks great with black paint with gold pin strips and letters. and it will be taken down when a freind needs a ride -

More precisely, Sheffield was the traditional center of the English steel industry, the location of many of the technological breakthroughs in metallurgy (such as the Huntsman crucible in the 18th Century, the Bessemer converter in the 19th Century, and the development of stainless steel in the 20th Century), and the headquarters of many of the UK's most important steel producers. As is true of other important steel centers (Solingen, Germany/Thiers, France/Toledo, Spain/Seki City, Japan), it's also the traditional center of the nation's cutlery industry; you'll find a lot of old kitchen knives with Sheffield England stamps.
