You can run a 1/8 chain on a 3/32 chainring correct? but is it the best idea? will the chain have a tendency to come off?

does anyone ride with a 1/8 chain on a 3/32? how does it ride, is it any different then riding a 1/8 on a 1/8 chainring?

    any help would be cool
    thanks

You wont have too much of a problem if it's just your chain ring. If your cog or freewheel is 3/32 then you will get a lot of noises.

I did it for about half a year, and my chain fell off about 5 times. Luckily I never got in any accidents, I was using chain tensioners too, my SHITTY Sram pc-1 just kept streching.

I wouldn't recommend doing it, but you can. Running all 1/8th is super solid.

Mine's been set up that way for 5 years, chain's come off once, and it was loose.

All 1/8" sounds better (quieter) but I don't think it matters that much.

I also had 3/32" chainrings on BMX's BITD.

If you already have a 3/32 to 1/8 setup, there is no reason to change the ring out simply because it is slightly thinner. If you're buying a new setup or looking to upgrade, obviously buy the same size all around.
