Hello everyone, I know there are threads about tires already but I do not find it good enough to answer my question and internet reviews can only help so much. I would just want to know from your experiences what is the best tire for running decent psi puncture resistance and last long enough skidding out of these tires Specialized Armadillo, Continental Gator Skin and Vittoria Rubino.(I know they are all in the same price range and currently running Specialized Armadillos and its alright)
Or maybe you guys can recommend other or better tires that would be great thank you. -

Stop skidding so much. I know it's fun, but it's not necessary. It's more expensive to be wearing thru all those tires, which should last you a long time if you were not skidding.
I ride Continetal Grand Prix 4000s and they last about a full year before they had too many glass cuts and I have to change. If I did not get the glass cuts, they would last much longer, because even after a year they are barely worn. -

i love to skid so much that i run the cheapest 700's money can buy i think the one i have on there right now is "heng sain" 700x25 $8 a piece... wierd thing is these have lasted me like 3 months now needles to say i am very happy. so its true you can slow down just as fast by slowing your pedal very rapidly but its just not as much fun as skidding all over the place! so why drop $$$ on tires when you can pay less than 10 and skid you're brains out! -

I guess after you've been riding a fixed gear for longer than a few months to a year the whole novelty of skidding gets old and you start realizing you're wasting money on tires. -

I have my KHS Aerotrack for 5 years, skidding does not get old, unless you have some sort of a fun deficiency. Neither does jumping a BMX off curbs or wheelying a Schwinn Stingray.
You can easily spend enough scratch to buy a Continental Gatorskin in one night at a bar, in the name of fun. I think skidding is a better value for money.
I use whatever tire I can get on sale, mostly the Vittoria Zaffiro. The black ones last longer. I had a Soma Everwear but the sidewalls delaminated before I wore the tread out. I've heard good things about the Panaracer RibMo which is the next tire I am going to try when I kill the Specialized All-Condition tire. BTW Specialized tires tend to come off in chunks when they get thin and then they blow out (see picture). -

god so true... i'm actually about to set my kilo up with a front (which i always run) and a (redundant) rear brake!
skidding and that jazz just kills my knees anyhow. -

i guess i'd rather spend my "skid fund" on part upgrades and replacing the cranks on my bmx which i just destroyed.. or beer, which is never a waste (bar or not)

I've been running gatorskin ultra's for almost a year now, no problems. But, I never skid. I frequently check the dumpsters of my local shops for tires and things. You'd be surprised at how many 700c tires are thrown away that would be good for a month of good skidding. I have a stock pile of about 15 good tires from dumpster diving (as well as a pair of brand new shimano shoes!!) -

Can't give up the beer for a night and skidding is no longer fun? Sounds like depression :(
I have front brake, I still skid all the time. -

Yeah, I've never dumpstered any bike parts. I've never gotten a ridiculous bargain on a bike at a thrift store either. I prefer to get in bidding wars on ePay and pay as much as possible.
And fuck bike co-ops I'd rather buy stuff new as soon it comes out, not later when it's on sale or at the end of the year when it's on close-out. -

As do I; and I'll resist the impulse to trash-talk Roseville residents.
As much as I love the Vittoria Randonneur (and I do; I'm thinking of getting a set for my touring bike, 'cause Performance has them on sale for $22 right now), they're heavy and have a limited range of sizes - nothing under 28mm. Most of the fixie-kids I see, in the city and environs, are riding narrower tires. -

Yeah...and they have a super low PSI rating. -

Soo true.
SkidMark you sound much more fiscally endowed then myself. Dumpster diving and co-ops can offer up some gems, but there is also garbage (in some cases literally). -

I ride on now-and-later gators and love 'em. So much road trash just gets laughed at by these tires. I also skid on the rear as it's my only way of stopping quickly but those aren't distance skids by any means. I dunno, you've got three good tires listed there. The specialized and contis are kinda made for resisting punctures so I'd say either of those would be fine.
And I'm with skidmark... fun shit never stops being fun, it's the asshole forgetting how fun things can be that usually does that :) -
