Or the old-school one-pixel GIF.
I imagine you could actually use a clear one-pixel GIF, since it's still a graphic; if not, you could create a one-pixel JPG in an innocuous color. Or a shocking color, for that matter. -

This is a feature that is sorely missing on velospace. There is no easy way to get rid of a single photo at this time except to upload a placeholder or to delete and add the bike anew. I will look into it and see what I can do
