I have a problem that i cant seem to figure out. My Front wheel felt loose even though the nuts were screwed on tight. So i take it off to have a look at it. I realize that the rim feels like it is loose on the hub. So i decide to take a vice grip to hold down one side and take a wrench and tighten the other side. The part that i tightened is the bearings that connect to the hub. Anyways i realize now that my rim doesn't feel loose to the hub anymore. So i put it back on my fork to realize that my wheel is locked up!!! Im to poor to take it to the bike shop and was wondering if anyone can give me some advice anything will be appreciated.

    Thank you guys!

You tightened it too tight. You need to get it just right for it to spin freely without wiggling on the hub. Loosen it until it spins freely, then check if it wiggles on the hub. If it wiggles on the hub tighten it till it stops wiggling then see if it spins freely. Keep going back and forth until you get it right. Its actually pretty easy once you get the basic idea.

You might want to get a couple of cone wrenches. They're about four bucks apiece. Bring the wheel down to the bike shop and ask for what sizes you need.

To get down there, you can tighten and loosen as Wes says, but it'll be easier to get it right with a pair of cone wrenches
