so i just stripped the paint off my gfs iro mark v hd and i found a shitload of rust underneath the paint. the frame is about 6 months old and has never even seen a fuckin rainy day.. and one more thing, THERE WAS NO PRIMER UNDERNEATH THE PAINT!!
so my question is, can rust happen underneath a paint job? or is that just cuz they didnt primer it? or did iro just grab a rusty frame, paint it up and sent it my way?
either way its not the biggest deal, but it just frustrates me cuz i spent money on a brand new rusty frame =/
anyone have any experience stripping their iros? -

Can someone clear up whether iro frames are painted or powder coated? If the frame is PC it shouldnt be primed, it also shouldnt have any rust. PC over rust is a big no no from what I have been told. If its painted, a lack of primer is no excuse for a rusty frame. The frame was rusty before paint. I wouldnt say that iro did it, I'd be very surprised if the frames were not delivered from the manufacturer to iro already painted. Iro wouldnt know anything about it, rust under paint is something that you would notice right of the bat when you got a new shipment of frames.
One more reason to have your frame sandblasted when you want to repaint it... -

I suppose the rust could have come from moisture in general, but im no expert. But i know stuff here in missouri rust just from moisture in the air, not sure about sunny cali though. It is a bit odd that it is underneath the paint or whatever it is, but if there is any deep scratches, the moisture can seep underneath it, and move about, therefore causing the rust -
