Greg you keep this place so nice and tidy.
One of many reasons Velospace is my favorite cycling site.

While you are at cleaning house here, you should kick * off as well... I can't say I've ever seen a positive comment from that guy either. Last I saw he said some guy bought an "improper" wheelset so he must be a newb or asian?

check SFFixed....these guys don't put up with the shit or spew you do here. If you mess up, you get a "time out", mess up again you are banned. There are many douche bags on this forum, reason I don't come here, but if it was more policed like SFF, then I would spend more time here.

SFFixed is nothing like velospace. They are a walled community, you must log in to use it and log in to even see their messages. All members are screened on SFFixed.

velospace on the other hand is open to anyone to use and view. We don't screen new members and we encourage people to passively view the site or join in. We shut down abusive accounts. If you can't grow some thicker skin then move on

Everyone who complains about this site has never been over to the fixedgeargallery forum. Dudes are knowledgeable but not very friendly.
  6.
they all seem nice for my neck of the wood but there is only like 5 of them
  7.
Yeah, I used to spend a ton of time on the fixed gear gallery forum, considering I work in front of a computer, but they eventually ended up being more than I could handle and just never went back. People here are much better about stuff.
  8.
Yeah, I've been really pleased at the mellowing of n00bs here. It's made me really enjoy the forum.

last week was the el nino of trolls, things have quieted down.

They tend to be medusa-like: I ban one and another three spawn in their place (e.g. same jackass coming back with multiple accounts)
  9.
trick on my track was like that but he seems to have calmed down
  10.
i was just thinking about that

i havent seen him on here lately, maybe hes gone for good
  11.

The point is that trolls don't have stamina, the community does. We deal with the crap they throw out there and move on and forget about it, make fun of it, and reminisce when the time is right (TOMT, lickedwicked, et. al.)
  13.
i have never even met this guy lickedwicked, whats up with him? but i have seen a guy named lickedwicked2, is that the same guy?

    or just some wannabe?

Lickedwicked was/is velospaces favorite dork. Complete ridiculous but oddly likable.
  15.
oh ok, how comes he never posts up, for the week or so i have been here, i dont recall his name

is he just busy or what?
  16.
we dont know. lately he will just leave for weeks on end

he went to the giro and things have been different ever since. no posts about backwards mounted brakes in a while
  17.
or single speeds with only a front brake
  18.
Haha he's still around. He's just laying low, Bobby Fisher style.
But yeah Velospace is a really good balance of a lot of things. It's just enough smart assed, just enough cocky, just enough friendly, just enough goofy, just enough knowledgeable, and just enough stupid to make it a really worthwhile community.
I think Greg runs the show proper.
And yeah last week was a fuckin nightmare in the forums. Like every other thread was damn near incoherent. We weathered it together though folks and we're stronger now.

    That's us... together.
  19.
    Haha, well put for sure!!!
  20.
lol i like this forum, the problem with bike forums.com is that all the dudes in the ss fg section are just pissed cuz theyre over 40 and cant get laid anymroe

plus no one even does tricks on them, but here its a perfect balance of people who are like alley cats and stuff and people who do tricks

I came here after a long break from bikeforums. I always liked bikeforums but it was about 10% more negative than velospace which was a tiny bit too much for me. Plus, I couldnt remember who I liked, who had good bike info, and who was just an ass. Too many people. Velospace is small enough for me to have you guys sized up.
  21.
and at least for me i hated the lay out of bikefourms. velospace is much easyer to cruse and look at everything not just fixed gear or road or mtb.
  22.
The individual forums on bikeforums are very different from each other. The mechanics forum is hard to beat. The road forum is a bunch of dickheads who know surprisingly little about bicycles but don't want to let on. The commuters are mostly excited about clever problem solving. The racing forum is full of people excited about their favorite athletes and seem to be good sports. And so on.

The vibe here is distinct from all of them, of course. I like this place and I find myself here more than there these days (though I'm still over at the mechanics forum, learnin' shit several times a week.)
